Proof That You Got What It Takes

Cultivate Self-Belief
Building your own thing takes a tremendous amount of self-belief.
The thing about self-belief (for me at least) is that it comes and goes. I wasn't born with it. I didn't grow up with it. I’ve literally spent my entire life proving myself wrong.
"Who am I to believe that I can escape the convention career path and build a creator business?"
"Who am I to think I can build an athletic physique as a skinny "hardgainer" with Ulcerative Colitis?"
Well, believing that you can is the first step to achieving anything.
To strengthen the faith In myself I like to Collect Evidence.
Evidence that I in fact have what it takes to reach my golas.
Here are a few items from my list:
- I am fueled by passion.
- I am in it for the right reasons.
- I am thinking long term.
- I never stop learning.
- I take care of your mental and physical health.
- I know that it’s always hardest before the next breakthrough.
- I see every problem as a way to level up.
- I am are not afraid to go against the stream.
- I spend my time with intention.
- I know that discomfort and uncertainty is a part of the game.
- I take accountability for everything.
You list might look a little bit different. Doesn't matter.
The point is to build a list of undeniable proof that you are a person capable of great things.
Because lets be honest, most people haven't discovered their passion.
They want quick results.
They give up when it gets hard.
They’re fixated on fitting in.
They don’t take care of themselves.
They stopped learning after graduation.
They waste their time on things that don’t matter.
They avoid uncertainty and discomfort at all costs.
They blame their situation on everything but themselves.
So instead of thinking, “Why me?” think, “Why not me?”
And whenever you're having one of those days, pull out your list and remind yourself who you are.
Traits To Strive For
Fueled By Passion
Being fueled by passion aka loving what you do gives you unfair advantage. You don't have to rely on discipline or motivation to make progress.
In It For The Right Reasons
When your mission is bigger than you, you become less reactive to the spanners in the works like algorithms, self-doubt, or criticism.
Thinking Long Term
While others are looking for shortcuts and trends you are building something sustainable.
Never Stop Learning
“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” - Socrates
Stay curious, everything is "Figureoutable"
If you're not where you want to be, you're probably not as smart as you think you are.
The only barrier between you and what you want is skill, knowledge and execution.
Mental And Physical Health
Everything starts and ends with you. When you are running your own business there is no escape from that. If you don't have the energy and focus to generate results, you wont generate results. Investing in myself has been the best think I've done for my career. Health is wealth.
It’s Hardest Before The Next Breakthrough
The harder it gets, the closer you are. This has been very true for me in my journey. It’s almost like you’re rewarded with some downhill after pushing uphill for a while.
Every problem Is A Way To Level Up
We have talked about this before. Problems never ends, they evolve. Don't strive for for ZERO problems, strive for BETTER problems.
Go Against The Stream
Uncommon results come from uncommon choices. Do as everyone else, end up like everyone else. It's actually be better advice to do the exact opposite of what the majority is doing. Create when they consume.
Spend Your Time With Intention
Probably the most important one. Protect your time like an ice cream cone in a flock of seagulls.
Time is scarce, especially when you’re just starting out, building your side hustle on evenings and weekends. Being clear with your priorities and intentional with your time is key. The Stay On Track Planner will help with that.
Discomfort And Uncertainty Is A Part Of The Game
With freedom comes great responsibility. That amount of responsibility can feel scary if you aren't used to it. This is not a malfunction, it's something you need to learn to navigate. A sign that you are carving your own path.
Take Accountability For Everything
If you can cultivate a mindset of: “This didn’t work. What can I do differently?”
You will go far.
Blaming someone else keeps you stuck in the same patterns.
It doesn’t mean everything is your fault.
It means you take control of the situation in order to improve it.
The difference between a victim and a leader, a boy and a man, is responsibility.
